The Bolesworth Castle March 2024 Classic & Performance Car Auction

  Lot 63

2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X FQ300

Registration – BP02 FUN

Chassis No. – CZ4A-0002430

M.O.T. – January 2025

Odometer – 56,141

One of Mitsubishi’s more restrained styling efforts for its Evo range of Lancer models – despite the bonnet louvres and rear diffuser – this Evo X FQ300 comes resplendent in subtle yet quietly menacing black, with gunmetal grey alloys. It’s fitted with factory standard features such as the rear wing and roof-mounted fins, and comes with a set of Ralliart mudflaps for a little extra rally-car style. Essentially a rally-car with full set of seats, the Evo X FQ300 is fitted with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine – for homologation reasons – though it has been turbocharged to extract almost 300bhp; and more can easily be extracted should that not be considered enough. Of course, it comes with four-wheel drive, and ‘BP02 FUN’ comes with Mitsubishi’s SST six-speed dual-clutch semi-automatic gearbox. The interior comes with Recaro bucket seats, and gear-change paddles mounted behind the steering wheel, to further emphasise the rally-inspired specification. This superb looking example comes with 56,141 miles on the clock, and only lists five owners over its almost 16 years on the road.

Mitsubishi;s Lancer Evolution series – commonly referred to as ‘Evo’ – started in 1992 with the Evo I, and all models use a 2.0-litre engine and all-wheel drive as a base. This is because the main reason for the existence of an Evo line is because Mitsubishi went rallying with the Lancer, and requiring a certain amount of homologation models be built – as well as meeting demand from customers for road-going machines that were amongst some of the fastest ‘real-world’ machines in the world at the time. The badge has ended (currently) with the Evo X, which was produced between 2007 and 2016, based on the eighth-generation Lancer saloon. All versions produced at least 280bhp, though some models reached 360bhp in standard specification.

In summary:

· Remarkable example with exemplary powertrain

· Considerable care has been paid to the Evo X during its time on the road

· Excellent opportunity to own a rally-inspired road-rocket
