The vendor informs us this exceptionally rare SR was acquired in 2019 from a gentleman who had owned it for nearly 30 years, having purchased it brand new on 06/02/1991. At that point the car had seemingly covered only around 2,000 miles from new. Sadly, the long-term owner passed away, and the Nova then remained with a family member. According to MotorCheck/HPI data, the car has covered just 79 miles since 2019, bringing the current odometer reading to a remarkable and highly credible 2,079 miles.
Having stood for a prolonged period following the passing of its owner, the car required recommissioning, which the vendor informs us has now been completed. Finished in Glacier White with grey lower body mouldings and blue SR coachlines, the bodywork presents superbly, with straight panels and excellent originality throughout. The interior is likewise extremely well preserved, with the trademark blue-patterned cloth seats, door cards and dashboard all presenting as one would expect of a genuine low-mileage survivor. The original Vauxhall-branded Philips radio/cassette remains in place, the electric window switches operate correctly, and the engine bay is highly original, retaining factory finishes, labels and hardware.
Introduced as the sporting variant of the range, the SR quickly became a poster car for the era—lightweight, rev-happy and beloved by enthusiasts. Very few escaped modification or heavy daily use, and surviving cars of such low mileage are virtually unheard of today. This extraordinarily preserved example, retaining its period charm and originality, represents an exciting opportunity for the collector of early hot hatch and fast-Vauxhall history.
