An Auction of Classic and Performance Cars and Motorcycles

  Lot 31

1974 Suzuki GT380

Registration - HKB 909N

Chassis No. - 29126

M.O.T - Exempt

Odometer - 42,000

This fine-looking GT380 has been the subject of a £4,000-plus restoration, during which some £2,000-worth of new or new old-stock replacement parts were fitted, and the fuel, exhaust and suspension systems, wheels, tyres and instrumentation all attended to. The vendor now regards the 380cc engine, six-speed gearbox, suspension and cycle parts as being in ‘excellent’ order, and classes the frame, paintwork and brightwork as ‘good’. ‘HKB 909N’ is being sold complete with invoices covering the restoration.

Suzuki’s air-cooled two-stroke triples, the GT380 and GT550, made their debut in 1972 and echoed the general design of the company’s existing water-cooled GT750 flagship model. Though sporty in concept, they were arguably less highly tuned than their Kawasaki counterparts, with the smooth delivery of power being prioritised over out-and-out grunt. An innovation that was then carried across the company’s air-cooled range was the Ram Air System that forced cool air around the cylinders. Updates were made to the GT380 on an annual basis, and those for 1974 included: the introduction of constant velocity carburettors; raised gearing; chrome for the headlight, chainguard and airbox; discontinuation of the front fork gaiters; and installation of a passenger grab rail.

'A Buyer’s Premium applies to the Hammer Price of this Lot if your bid is successful, as per the following;  Motor Cars 12.5% + VAT (minimum £150 + VAT), Motorcycles and Bicycles 15% + VAT (minimum £100 + VAT); Registration Numbers 15% + VAT (minimum £50 + VAT); Automobilia 15% + VAT (minimum of £5 + VAT).'

Potential buyers should satisfy themselves with the description and condition of each lot prior to sale. Each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ as per the terms and conditions for the auction, buyers are asked to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out the service. Any disputes over descriptions will not be entertained.

Estimated at £6,000 - £7,000
