Lot 17

2002 Jaguar XK8

Registration - XK02 PAR

Chassis No. - SAJAC41MX2NA29858

M.O.T. - November 2024

Odometer - 98,000

Presented in American Red, this example of Jaguar’s XK8 is a rare chance to see the British marque’s flagship coupe in such a colour scheme. Initially produced in silver, ‘XK02 PAR’ has been professionally resprayed in its current striking deep red. At the same time, the alloy wheels were painted black, and the callipers a racing red. Under that long bonnet sits Jaguar’s 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine, connected to Jaguar’s five-speed automatic transmission, driving the rear wheels, and a new exhaust system with upgraded catalytic converters has been fitted. The interior of ‘XK02 PAR’ features black leather upholstery throughout the 2+2 cabin, with large swathes of wood veneer across the dashboard, as well as featuring on the steering wheel, gear selector knob, and selector surround. The interior has seen a new headlining installed, the front driver’s seat recommissioned, new gear knob, and tinted windows. The electrics have also been checked over, and a new battery fitted.

The current keeper has owned ‘XK02 PAR’ for around three years, and it comes with a partial service history, covering its almost 22 years on the road. The odometer shows an indicated 98,000 miles on the clock, with no red flags on the HPI check in this regard, but unwarranted nonetheless. This XK8 is described by the vendor as in ‘good’ condition in terms of the bodywork, paint, and interior, while the engine, transmission, and electrics are rated ‘excellent’.

Jaguar launched the XK8 in 1996 as a grand tourer, available in coupe or convertible forms. Using a traditional front-engine, rear-wheel drive configuration, the XK8 took styling cues from iconic Jaguar models such as the E-Type, built on a platform shared with the Aston Martin DB7, when the two manufacturers came under the Ford ownership umbrella. Production used the same 4.0-litre Jaguar AJ-V8 petrol engine, with a supercharger added to performance-focused XKR models. Adaptive suspension was available on certain models, and in 1997 there were a rage of subtle styling updates and equipment changes. In 2003, the 4.0-litre engine was replaced with a 4.2-litre V8 – again either naturally-aspirated or supercharged – before production ended in 2006, seeing the XK8 replaced by the Jaguar XK.

· Distinctive example of Jaguar’s grand tourer.

· Tweaks include a respray to American Red, painted alloy wheels, and new exhaust system.

· Well-cared-for Jaguar XK8 coupe, with sumptuous leather upholstered interior.
