Offered at No Reserve, this facelifted first-generation Mini Cooper S is described by the vendor as a really nice example that drives well. Finished in green metallic with a white roof, it is also fitted with a desirable set of Mini JCW alloy wheels. Other subtle exterior styling tweaks include a matt black bonnet air intake – which, along with the centre exit exhaust, is a defining feature of the Cooper S – plus uprated headlights and LED rear lights.
‘KK05WKU’ has more expert enhancements below the surface, reports the vendor. It has an uprated supercharger pulley, HT leads, radiator and engine mounts. The car runs premium Bilstein suspension and has a purposeful-sounding Milltek exhaust and shield. With an extensive service history supported by plenty of documentation, ‘KK05WKU’ also has a full one-year MOT. The odometer reads around 89,000 miles and the vendor has owned it for around a year.
The first new Mini concept was shown in 1997 while the brand was still part of the BMW-owned Rover Group. It was finally launched in 2001 as a standalone brand, and proved to be an immediate success. Built in Oxford, with bodies made in nearby Swindon, sales thrived from the beginning, and continue to this day with a much-expanded range. Petrol engines were developed in a joint venture with Chrysler, with the most exciting being the supercharged 1.6-litre in the Cooper S. A facelift in late 2024 kept the classic looks but significantly improved quality and usability, making these the early Minis to go for.
