The Bolesworth Castle May 2024 Classic & Performance Car Auction

  Lot 48

1993 Chevrolet Corvette C4
The highly sought-after 40th Anniversary Edition

Registration - K203 EBH

Chassis No. - 1G1YY23P9P5102919

M.O.T. - September 2024

Odometer - 68,000

Magnificent in maroon, this example of Chevrolet’s Corvette C4 sportscar is a highly desirable 40th Anniversary edition, celebrating four decades of one of America’s most famous models. Powered by Chevrolet’s 5.7-litre V8 petrol engine, ‘K203 EBH’ runs a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. Imported in 2019 from California, this Corvette C4 Targa is a home-market model and as such is left-hand drive. The 40th Anniversary edition comes well specified with factory-fitted equipment, including electric seats, ride control, and 40th Anniversary motifs stitched into the body-colour matching Ruby Red leather upholstery as well as decals on the Ruby Red metallic bodywork.

The current owner has completed an extensive list of work within the last two years. This includes the Opti-Spark ignition system – including ignition module, coil, and eight Bosch injectors – timing chain and gears, water pump and gasket, and coolant, air intake, and O2 sensors. The vendor considers the paintwork and electrics of ‘K203 EBH’ as ‘average’, while the engine, bodywork, and interior are reckoned ‘good’; the transmission is thought of as ‘excellent’. This apparently relatively low mileage example – the odometer shows an unwarranted 68,000 miles – has been carefully looked after during its time in the UK. ' K203 EBH' is offered for sale with an MOT until September 2024.

Chevrolet’s Corvette first arrived in 1953, leading the way for a generation of American models that would go on to gain legendary status. It ran a 3.9-litre straight-six petrol engine for the first three model years, before Chevrolet fitted the V8 that is now synonymous with the Corvette name from 1955, with a revised design in 1956, tweaked again in 1958, and then 1961. The second-generation Corvette C2 appeared in 1963, until 1967, introducing the Stingray name. Production lasted until 1967, with improvements such as all-round disc brakes, and a big-block V8 added during that time. The third-generation arrived in 1968, lasting until 1982, featuring T-Top removable roof panels, and marking the 25th anniversary in 1978. The C4 Corvette was the first model to feature a complete redesign, arriving in 1984, and using a 205hp 5.7-litre V8 with four-speed automatic transmission initially. It came as a one-piece Targa, and power outputs from increased up to 403hp over various specifications, until production ceased in 1996, when the fifth of the Corvette’s eight generations arrived.

· US import Corvette C4 in sought-after specification.

· 40th Anniversary edition.

· Extensive list of work carried out since 2019.
