The Bolesworth Castle May 2024 Classic & Performance Car Auction

  Lot 4

1990 Peugeot 205 Roland Garros
***NO RESERVE***

Registration - H969 SWA

Chassis No. - VF320DK2223861430

M.O.T. - TBC

Odometer - 125,000

This wonderful Pininfarina-designed Peugeot 205 Cabriolet is presented in sought-after Roland Garros trim. It is one of just 150 right-hand drive cars when new and now one of a mere handful remaining. It is understood the car was used for long trips on the continent, rather than local short trips, but has been off the road since 2006 when the then-owner passed away. It was rescued from an estate sale a year ago, and has since been recommissioned with a new radiator, master cylinder and fluids. The vendor reports the underside is 'very sound', and both a comprehensive history and the original bill of sale will come with the car. The 1.4-litre engine runs well and all five gears engage smoothly we are told and while it doesn’t currently have an MOT, the vendor assures us that all it needs to pass is a wheel bearing, which is included in the sale. This three-owner machine is offered at No Reserve.

The Peugeot 205 was the car that saved the company. Launched in 1983, it is known as ‘un sacre numero’ and helped turn the company into a powerhouse of the 1980s and beyond. The Cabriolet followed the launch of three-door and five-door hatchback 205; it was designed by Pininfarina, and partially assembled by the firm in Italy. Roland Garros versions are even rarer, and prized today because of their rich standard specification and unique features.

In summary:

· Rare and very original Peugeot 205 Cabriolet Roland Garros

· Just three owners since new and offered at No Reserve

· Extensive history and original bill of sale included
