  Lot 80

1974 Datsun 620 Pick-up
Former museum exhibit in South Africa

Registration - BBK 914M

Chassis No. - AAPV0041250583125

M.O.T. - Exempt

Odometer - 9,777km

This distinctive 1974 Datsun 620 pick-up has had an interesting life – following its early years of very light commercial use, it then ended up residing in a car museum in South Africa. The current owner imported it into the UK 18 months ago, and has since recommissioned the brakes and tuned the engine. They report it has a 'solid' body, a 'good' engine and a 'good condition' bed that shows limited evidence of its former commercial use. A full canopy is also included. Boasting a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine, the Datsun doesn’t have much in the way of service history – but does come with full evidence that it resided in a museum to offset this! It also comes with all the necessary import documentation. With the white bodywork set off by a wonderfully 1970s retro brown interior, it is also packed with period details, including a ‘Super Rally’ radio.

The Datsun truck was launched by Nissan way back in 1955 and went through several iterations until this 620 generation was released in 1972. The 1500 engine was the most popular choice, producing 77hp for a top speed of 84mph, although a 2.2-litre diesel alternative also followed later. Assembly was carried out in multiple locations, with the core Japanese plans supported by facilities in Thailand, Philippines and New Zealand.

In summary:

· Came to the UK 18 months ago with full import paperwork
