  Lot 124

2005 Bentley Continental Flying Spur
Warranted 52,800 miles from new

Registration - J70 ROT

Chassis No. - SCBBE53W06C033484

M.O.T. - February 2024

Odometer - 52,800

This very well-presented Flying Spur was registered new to the first of its six keepers in October 2005, so is one of the earlier examples of this luxurious model. It has been in the vendor’s care since November last year, prior to which it allegedly belonged to a sheikh, and bullet-proof glass features among the Bentley’s comprehensive specification, as does keyless entry. Its gunmetal paintwork is complemented by a stunning interior of cream leather trim, polished wood veneer and grey carpet, and it rides on unmarked period-correct seven-spoke alloy wheels shod with Pirelli P Zero tyres. The vendor informs us that the car ‘drives well’ and considers its W12 engine, paddle-shift ZF six-speed automatic transmission, four-door bodywork, paintwork and upholstery to all be in ‘good’ condition. He is now offering the Flying Spur complete with the cherished number plate ‘J70 TOT’, its full set of owner’s handbooks, Bentley service history confirming the modest total indicated mileage of 52,800, two sets of keys and a current MOT valid to February 16 next year.

At the time of its introduction, the Continental Flying Spur was quite simply the world’s most powerful and fastest production saloon. Indeed, courtesy of its 6-litre twin turbo W12 engine of no less than 552bhp and permanent all-wheel drive transmission it was capable of completing the 0-60mph dash in just 4.9 seconds and accelerating on to a top speed only 5mph shy of the 200 mark. Unveiled at the Geneva Salon in March 2005, the newcomer was effectively a four-door version of the proven Continental GT coupe. The suitably impressive technical specification included such hi-tech functions as adaptive air suspension and continuous damping control. The first of what has so far been three generations of the model remained in production until 2013, by which time 19,786 examples had been hand-crafted to the company’s exacting standards – each of which required in excess of 100 hours to assemble.

In summary:

  • A very well-presented six-owner example
  • Has a warranted mileage of just 52,800 from new
  • Comes complete with bullet-proof glass and keyless entry
