The Gold Cup Classic & Performance Car & Motorcycle Auction

  Lot 122

2012 Ferrari 458 Spider
Warranted 4,580 miles from new

Registration - MX62 NYD

Chassis No. - ZFF68NHC000191112

M.O.T. - November 2023

Odometer - 4,580

As its immaculate condition suggests, this truly splendid Italian stallion has done very little prancing since being delivered new to its first keeper by Stratstone Wilmslow in September 2012. To be precise, they and the subsequent owner and his wife who acquired the car after just nine months have amassed a mere 4,580 miles between them, so the Ferrari remains barely run in. It is finished in the suitably arresting combination of Rosso Corsa bodywork and red piped/stitched black hide interior trim, and its original unmarked five-spoke alloy wheels remain shod in the correct specification of Pirelli P Zero tyres. The maintenance record confirms that the supplying dealer carried out services in 2014 (3,170 miles), 2020 (4,423 miles) and 2022 (4,516 miles, ie just 64 miles ago). Taking everything into account, it is unsurprising that the vendor presently classes the V8 engine, seven-speed automatic transmission, electrical system, retractable-roofed bodywork, paintwork and interior trim as all being in ‘excellent’ order. This extremely desirable righthand drive 458 comes complete with that full service history and a current MOT valid to November 10.

The Pininfarina-penned Ferrari 458 was manufactured in Maranello between 2009 and 2015. Officially unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Salon, it was the successor to the F430 and, though close in concept, was born of an entirely new design that included technologies developed from the company’s ongoing involvement in Formula One. It was powered by a 562bhp version of the Ferrari/Maserati F136 family of V8 engines, which drove through a seven-speed Getrag dual–clutch automatic transmission – the 458 was notable for being the first mainstream Ferrari to be offered without the option of a manual gearbox. The sophisticated suspension featured adaptive magnetorheologial dampers, while the carbon ceramic braking system included a pre-fill function that automatically caused the pads to contact the discs at the point of lift-off, thereby minimising delay in application. The car’s performance was as impressive as you’d expect, with just 3.4 seconds required for the 0-62mph dash and a top speed of 202mph-plus for the Italia berlinetta, and only a touch less for the slightly heavier Spider version. Introduced in 2011, the Spider featured an aluminium retractable hardtop that could be fully lowered in just 14 seconds.

In summary:

  • An immaculate example with just 4,580 recorded miles
  • Spectacularly presented in Rosso Corsa and black hide interior
  • Comes with carbon brakes, service history and current MOT
