The Gold Cup Classic & Performance Car & Motorcycle Auction

  Lot 105

1999 Ford Fiesta Finesse
**NO RESERVE** Only 40,000 miles from new

Registration - T667 KBU

Chassis No. - WF0BXXBAJBXC06122

M.O.T. - March 2023

Odometer - 40,995

‘T667 KBU’ was registered to the first of its two keepers in March 1999, and, judging by the rear window sticker and number plate logos, the supplying dealer was Quicks of Old Trafford. The vendor acquired the Finesse as recently as April of this year. He admits to knowing little of its history, but informs us that ‘it’s a tidy little car with no rust or rot that has a very nice interior, rides on good tyres, and has an engine that starts and runs reliably’. In summary he currently regards the three-door bodywork, blue paintwork and grey fabric upholstery as ‘good’ and the four-cylinder engine and five-speed manual gearbox as ‘average’. It is now available for somebody else to enjoy, complete with factory-fitted glass sunroof and radio/cassette player. It is intended for there to be a fresh MOT by the time of the sale. Surely a perfect purchase for a son or daughter heading off to university.

Developed across no less than seven generations, Ford’s incredibly successful Fiesta was discontinued last month, much to the disappointment of its legion of fans. No less than 22 million examples were sold during the model’s astonishing 47-year reign, 4.8 million of which found homes in the UK, where it was the top selling car for 12 consecutive years (2009-2020), and the country’s best-selling one of all time. From frugal family runabout to winner of international rallies, Ford’s famous baby ticked countless boxes in its reign, and leaves a very large automotive hole behind it. The Finesse model we’re concerned with here was a budget specification version of the MKIV Fiesta that was sold from 1995 to 1999. Its ‘Kent-based’ 1.3-litre OHV Endura-E engine had an output of 59bhp that was sufficient to endow the hatchback with a 0-60mph time of 14.8 seconds, and top speed just shy of 100mph. And, thanks to a modest fuel consumption it could comfortably travel some 360 miles per tank of fuel.

In summary:

  • Seemingly just two keepers and 40,995 miles from new
  • Equipped with factory-fitted glass sunroof and radio/cassette player
  • Being sold at No Reserve
