  Lot 103

1995 Jaguar XJS Celebration 4.0 Convertible

Chassis No. - 9LPFRB130118

Registration - M751 JEC

M.O.T. - October 2021

Odometer - 79,845

This exceedingly smart XJS has to be one of the best documented cars we’ve encountered in a while. Since being first registered in May 1995 it has had a total of four keepers, the most recent of whom purchased it from Dutton Forshaw Preston and has retained the Jaguar for no less than 22 years, during which he’s been responsible for 50,845 miles of the 79,845 the car has amassed to date. It is a Celebration model, which was the final incarnation of the XJ-S/XJS range that remained in manufacture for 21 years – the longest production run in Jaguar history. Celebration cars are notable for their diamond cut alloy wheels, Jaguar embossed seats and wood/leather rimmed steering wheel. The sale example features Bright Turquoise Metallic bodywork complemented by Antelope-piped Oatmeal hide interior trim and a black power hood. It also has aftermarket wheel-arch embellishers (which the vendor is keen to emphasise are purely for decoration and not hiding corrosion, of which ‘JEC 751M’ is mercifully free). Power is provided by Jaguar’s 4.0-litre AJ16 straight-six powerplant that drives through a four-speed ZF automatic transmission and, according to the vendor, the car has averaged 22mpg throughout its life to date. It has apparently always been well maintained by Jaguar main dealers or marque specialists and never required any major repairs. Recent attention has included the replacement of the front springs and dampers, and the handbrake disc pads.

This very well presented and seemingly fault-free XJS is now available complete with hood cover, tools and a large file of paperwork including: receipts and invoices covering work over almost three decades, plus a continuation of MOT certificates from 2000 right through to the one currently valid until October 19 this year.

In summary:

  • A very smart example of the final version of the model
  • Comes with fully documented history
  • Just four owners and 79,845 miles from new
