Offered at No Reserve, this 1995 Mini Cooper is a tantalising proposition for any car collector. It is notable for being a Japanese import, and didn’t arrive in the UK until 2021. This means it has benefitted from the favourable Japanese climate and doesn’t suffer the obvious rust issues that British-based cars do. Since its arrival, the vendor says it has been “garaged and loved”. As is often the way with Japanese imports, exact details of the car’s spec are limited, but it does have the desirable extra of air conditioning – perfect for cruising to summer shows in comfort. Other upgrades include Bluetooth, a centre-exit exhaust, Minilite alloys and all-new Yokohama tyres.
‘M626YRN’ has a long MOT and also comes with all import and export documentation. The vendor says it has an extensive history both from Japan and the UK – and has only had one owner here in the UK. The engine, transmission and electrics are described as being in ‘excellent’ condition, with ‘good’ bodywork, paintwork and interior.
The Mini is Britain’s most famous car. Introduced in 1959, the Sir Alec Issigonis masterpiece was an economy car like no other, a tiny saloon packed featuring numerous innovations, from a gearbox-in-sump engine, to its space-saving transverse installation. And despite being tweaked and upgraded over the years, that’s largely how the Mini remained, right up to 2000. Its survival is thanks to gaining a new lease of life in the 1980s, when many special versions were developed and Japanese buyers started flocking to the car in droves. Enthusiasm for the Mini remains to this day, and it’s rightly one of the UK’s most well-supported classic cars.
