Spring 2021 Classics & Collectables Auction

Lot 47

1999 BMW Z3M Roadster

Chassis No. - WBSCK92020LB07019

Registration - T97 CVP

M.O.T - March 2022

Odometer – 87,000

Just 918 righthand drive Z3M roadsters were produced, making this handsome June 1999 example a relatively rare car. It is finished in the pleasing combination of Estoril metallic blue bodywork, two-tone blue/black premium leather interior trim and black power hood, and rides on its original BMW alloy wheels – 7.5x17 inch front and 9x17 inch rear. The car’s comprehensive specification includes: factory hardtop (complete with heated rear screen and original storage cover); heated seats; electrically-operated windows and mirrors; air conditioning; 6CD changer and tailor-made outdoor cover. Very well presented and clearly well maintained, ‘T97 CVP’ has covered a relatively modest 87,000 miles to date, a figure that’s substantiated by its extensive MOT and service records. It’s had a total of seven keepers to date, the most recent of whom acquired the car in May 2013, since when he has invested c.£7,840 with South Lakes BMW of Grange-over-Sands in order to replace the original five-speed manual gearbox and generally keep the vehicle maintained, and a further £1,630 having the bodywork resprayed and the wheels refurbished. Anybody in search of one of these appreciating assets would certainly do well to consider ‘T97 CVP’, which the vendor informs us will have been treated to another service and fresh MOT by the time of the sale.

Produced between November 1997 and June 2000, the Z3M roadster was based on BMW’s popular Z3 two-seater. However, it was a car of far more exciting character courtesy of it punchy 316bhp engine previously restricted to the M3. Other M-upgrades included: a limited slip differential; larger brakes; wider rear track; reduced ride height; firmer suspension; more aerodynamic door mirrors; more aggressive front and rear bodywork; revised wing grilles; quad exhausts; and bespoke ‘Roadstar’ alloy wheels. The interior benefited from additional console-based instruments and unique sports seats.

  • New tyres and brake pads
  • Service and M.O.T. in March 2021
  • 0-60 mph time of 5.3 seconds
