Spring 2021 Classics & Collectables Auction

Lot 31

1997 Volvo V70 SE Estate
*** NO RESERVE ***

Chassis No. - YVILW5102WV2351489

Registration - P395 MBK

M.O.T. - Expired

Odometer – 182,000

Anybody who’s run a Volvo V70 estate car knows not only how commodious they are but how, treated with due respect, they run and run. ‘P395 MBK’ certainly seems a case in point, as it’s had seven keepers to date and clocked up 182,000, yet the vendor suggests a further 60,000 or more is unlikely to be a problem. It’s neat and tidy Pearlescent Silver exterior is matched to greeny-grey cloth interior trim, all of which seems to be surviving very well so far. Bruce Bell of John Anderson Motor Engineers, Mansfield has apparently treated the Volvo to regular servicing, preparation for MOTs, belt changing etc in recent times. This worthy warhorse is now available to serve a new keeper and is being sold with a new 12-month MOT and Without Reserve.

The first generation V70 was a direct development of the 850 model and, although it looked very similar at first glance, the newcomer apparently benefited from no less than 1,800 updates. There was the choice of two petrol engines - a 2.0-litre or 2.5-litre five-cylinder unit mounted up front and driving the front wheels, though diesel and even bi-fuel versions were also offered. Even though the range was superseded by the second generation design after a matter of just four years, the robustness of the early cars has ensured that many, like the sale car, are still running and providing sterling service for happy owners.

In summary:

  • Its looks belie its mileage of 182,000
  • Apparently well maintained
  • Being sold Without Reserve
