Spring 2021 Classics & Collectables Auction

Lot 106

1997 Bentley Turbo R LWB

Chassis No. - SCBZP15C7VCH60191

Registration - P25 TVF

M.O.T. - January 2022

Odometer - 37,150

This exquisite-looking low mileage, long wheelbase Turbo R is presented with ‘virtually unmarked’ Royal Blue bodywork teamed with ‘as-new’ blue-piped magnolia-coloured interior trim, while the vendor describes the woodwork as being in ‘exceptional condition’. Being a 1997 model, ‘P25 TVF’ is fitted with the legendary Rolls-Royce/Bentley V8 engine equipped with Zytec engine management and Garrett turbocharger – a powerplant that boasted 385bhp and stump-pulling levels of torque. According to the vendor, the car ‘drives perfectly, the warning lights all extinguish as they should after start-up, and everything else on the car operates as intended, including the electric windows, electric seats and central locking system’. The Bentley also rides on ‘excellent, correct’ Avon Turbospeed tyres, but has apparently been little used since passing its most recent MOT test on January 1 this year. It is now offered complete with its original Blue Spot stereo system and lambswool over-rugs. The accompanying service history confirms full main dealer maintenance throughout (Michael Powles Norwich and P & A Wood) with services at 719, 6,500, 11,442, 19,032, 27,743, 28,926 and 32,463. The total mileage of this lovely, five-owner Turbo R currently stands at just 37,150 miles.

Bentley’s Turbo R was based on the chassis of the Mulsanne and powered by a modified version of the engine from the Mulsanne Turbo. However, it proved to be rather more than the sum of its parts, causing Motor Trend to describe it as, ‘the first Bentley in decades deserving of the famous name’. The model was available with short (3,061mm) or long (3,161mm) wheelbase - just 1,211 long wheelbase Turbo R’s were produced between 1985 and 1997.

In summary:

  • Genuine low mileage example
  • Outstanding condition inside and out
  • Full main dealer service history throughout
